The Commission for Determining the Minimum Wage continues its meetings to determine the first minimum wage in 2024.
Finance Minister Ozdemir Berova said they estimate the cost of living increase to be in the range of 40%. Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadik Gardiyanoglu said: “The minimum wage will be within the subsistence level.”
According to the statements in question, if the projected increase occurs, the minimum wage is expected to be TL 25,706 (excluding taxes).
If the minimum wage is 25,706 Turkish lira, it will increase by 484% compared to 2021 and 41% compared to 2023. On the other hand, the minimum wage in foreign currency equivalent lags behind the cost of living.
