The turtle release season is coming to an end in North Cyprus. The charity organization Cyprus Marine Life Karsiyaka has protected 72 nests and released a record number of babies.
– We are pleased to announce the successful end of the season at Karsiyaka beach. 72 nests were laid and protected,” the animal welfare organization noted on its social media page.
The organization thanked the volunteers who worked under the scorching sun to protect the nests. Also this year, 66 “named” nests appeared in North Cyprus thanks to the “Name the Nest” campaign.
The work of volunteers in Karpaz is still ongoing, turtles continue to hatch there. We would like to remind you that recently in Lapta at the Caretta Caretta Festival turtles were released into the sea after treatment.
