MET GALA 2024: FLOWERS, GLITTER AND QUICK SHAPES

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour opens the Met Gala 2024 carpet in a bright and stylish outfit from Loewe. This is how stars from the worlds of cinema, music and television celebrate the start of a fashion exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This year’s theme is “Sleeping Beauties: The Awakening of Fashion,” and the slogan “Garden of Time” was invented for the dress code. This gave red carpet guests space for imagination and creativity.

Actress Zendaya got so excited that she walked the red carpet twice. First she posed in a blue dress decorated with bunches of grapes. Then she returned in a black Givenchy dress and a large Alexander McQueen hat with flowers.

Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez shone in a dress made of 2.5 million bugle beads from Schiaparelli. And Chris Hemsworth dressed in a light suit from Tom Ford.

Kim Kardashian looked stunning in a metallic Maison Margiela corset dress that was cinched to the max at the waist. Her sisters also looked elegant: Kylie Jenner wore an Oscar de la Renta dress, and Kendall wore a black and brown Givenchy dress.

Singer Tayla stunned in a sandy Balmain dress, while actress Gwendoline Christie created a glamorous and whimsical look in a Margiela dress.

There were some incidents. A group of pro-Palestinian student protesters tried to walk right up to the carpet. Police eventually made several arrests.

Met Gala is a charity evening that brings together world stars and famous designers. The dress code changes every year. All guests adapt to it.

And the exhibition to which the ball is dedicated this time covers 400 years of fashion history, starting from the 17th century and ending with the museum’s recent acquisitions from designers such as Philip Lim, Connor Eve and Stella McCartney.
