TWO RARE TIGERS PRESENTED AT A ZOO IN FRANCE

Two Sumatran tiger cubs were presented to the public at a zoo in northern France. Their appearance is a great success for endangered species conservation programs.

The babies were named Rimba and Toba. They were born on March 22 as part of the European Sumatran Tiger Breeding Program.

This is the second litter of female Meni and male Argo. Now that the cubs are one month old, they weigh approximately 4 kilograms.

Sumatran tiger numbers are in sharp decline due to habitat loss and deforestation for agricultural land, including palm plantations. Illegal hunting also poses a threat. These tigers are prized for their skins and are considered a terror to livestock.

This zoo now has five Sumatran tigers. In general, about 125 representatives of these big cats live in European zoos.
