THE 13TH SAND SCULPTURE FESTIVAL IN DENMARK WAS DEDICATED TO “FAITH AND SUPERSTITIONS”

“Faith and superstition” became the theme of the sand sculpture festival in the Danish town of Hunnested. This year it is being held for the 13th time. In some countries, this number is considered unlucky. This prompted the organizers to announce an unusual theme.

Seveline from Canada dedicated the sculpture to the Indian legend of the falling star. As a child, Sevelin also heard amazing stories from her father.

Seveline used to make sculptures from ice and snow. For the last five years he has been working with sand. Here craftsmen use quarry sand, which contains a lot of silt and clay.

Canadian David Ducharme creates a sculpture of a Hindu deity with the head of an elephant. She has been working with sand for more than 20 years.

The seaside town of Hunnested has only 8,000 inhabitants. The festival helps attract tourists. This year more than ten sculptors from different countries are participating in it. Each person will create two compositions. The sand sculptures will remain here until October 20. Over five months, more than 60,000 tourists will see them.
