SWEETS IN HONOR OF THE QUEEN OF DENMARK

SWEETS IN HONOR OF THE QUEEN OF DENMARK

This bakery in Copenhagen has released themed sweets in honor of Queen Margrethe II, who will abdicate the throne in a few days. The main dessert is made in the shape of a pyramid. This is a hint of the Queen’s interest in archaeology.

Each pyramid was topped with a chocolate crown.

The chef says the Copenhagen Bakers’ Guild usually coordinates the production of one confectionery product to mark royal occasions. But the announcement of the abdication took everyone by surprise. That’s why each confectionery comes up with its own dessert.

Queen Margrethe II is today considered the longest reigning monarch in Europe. She unexpectedly announced her renunciation during her traditional New Year’s speech live. She remained on the throne for 52 years. She will be succeeded by her eldest son, Crown Prince Frederik.

Margrethe II enjoyed widespread Danish support during her reign. Many people like her tact and creativity.

She studied archeology at Cambridge and is known for her love of excavations, in which she personally participated.
