Alanya is discussing the possibility of lowering the amount required to obtain a residence permit. This decision may make the procedure more accessible for foreign citizens, attracting more new residents and strengthening the attractiveness of the region.
Let’s stipulate right away – so far this is not a fact, but only “plans”. Although they are pleasant. Journalists working in Alanya visited several major officials, politicians and public figures to discuss with them the regulation of the real estate sector. And they seem to have secured a public promise from the head of the local unit of the ruling AKP party – that’s President Erdogan’s party – to “lower the entry threshold.”
Recall: now a residence permit for the purchase of real estate is issued only in open areas, where the proportion of local residents is more than 80%. Closed areas more than 1 000, including many resort areas. Buy must be more than $ 200 thousand.
There is, however, in Turkey and another residence permit, which is called “tourist”. Formally, this can be obtained by buying any housing and even renting it for a long period of time. But they stop issuing it, or issue it only for half a year….. “Two hundred thousand” option for those who really want to live in Turkey is more interesting. But more expensive.
For regions of the country, where foreigners buy little or not at all, the problem is not relevant at all. But for the Alanya market foreign buyers are very important, and local realtors are very persistent.
Of course, this does not mean that the decision will be made. And it certainly does not mean that they will do it quickly. But still. A step in a pleasant direction for foreigners.
