New York City hosts a costumed dog parade in honor of Halloween

Cinderella, a spider and hot dogs – there’s plenty to see in Tompkins Square Park in New York City today. Dozens of dogs and their owners are participating in a Halloween costume parade. The owners tried to come up with the most amazing outfits for their shaggy pets.

Among the participants are both music lovers and sports fans.

The dog’s owner:

“His name is Gremlin. He’s wearing (former baseball player Derek) Jeter’s jersey. We represent the Yankees and we’re going to beat the Mets.”

And this dog is wearing his own fur as a costume. The owner says the pet just won’t allow himself to wear an outfit.

This is the 34th time the Halloween dog parade has been held here. Every year, several hundred pets participate, and 2,000 spectators come to watch the costume parade. The event is a charity event. Organizers raise money for the maintenance of the dog park in Tompkins Square Park.
