Swiss-French artist Sipe used eco-friendly paint to create a giant grass painting in Zurich. The purpose of this work is to draw attention to the plight of migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea and those who try to save them.
The painting shows a little girl tilting a lighthouse lit by real lamps. And next to it is a paper boat on a map of the Mediterranean. Nearby you can see a real inflatable boat, on which a group of soft dolls are floating, huddled together.
Sipe says he wants to pay tribute to the French charity SOS Mediterranee, which rescues refugees and migrants sailing from Africa to Europe.
The work on the grass took Sipe about a week.
The figure, the size of several Olympic swimming pools, can only be seen from a bird’s eye view.
