FLORIDA BALLET BRINGS FREDERICK ASHTON'S LEGACY TO THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE

The premiere of the international festival Ashton Worldwide, dedicated to the work of choreographer Frederick Ashton, took place at London’s Royal Opera House. He is considered the creator of the English ballet repertoire.

Ashton was a choreographer for the Royal Ballet and is known for his unique “English style”. He created such works as “Margarita and Arman” and “Symphonic Variations”.

The Sarasota Ballet Company from Florida performed at the opening. She is known for reviving Ashton’s work.

Director Ian Webb performed many times at the Royal Opera House under the direction of Frederick Ashton.

The company’s principal dancer Jennifer Hackbarth says she is honored to perform at the Royal Opera House.

The Ashton Worldwide festival will take place around the world until 2028.
