DOG RIDING IN LAPLAND

DOG RIDING IN LAPLAND

Santa isn’t the only one riding through the snowy forests of Lapland on reindeer. You can often see dog sleds here. Such walks have become one of the most popular winter activities in Finland.

People come from different countries to ride dog sleds. Remy and his family flew in from the UK.

The sleds are not purebred huskies, but crossbreeds. But the dogs know their stuff. There is almost no need to manage them.

Currently, daylight in Lapland lasts only a few hours. So tourists rush to admire the forest before dark. Dogs can run up to 50 kilometers in a day. Tours last from 45 minutes to one and a half hours.

Finland is experiencing a tourism boom this winter. Dog sledding trips are booked much more frequently than last season. The owners of the kennel even had to rent dogs from colleagues.
