This season's Christmas decorations were shown at a fair in London

These cute Christmas mice are just one of the products that stores hope will encourage shoppers to spend money this festive season.

From trinkets, wreaths and garlands to luxury scented candles: companies showcase the latest trends at London’s Spirit of Christmas fair.

More than 600 retailers gathered here. Many expect the upcoming holidays to bring more profits.

Last year’s holiday season was difficult for many because of the cost of living crisis.

But in 2024, UK holiday season retail sales are forecast to reach £96 billion. Last year the amount was 93 billion.

This time around, the trend is a mix of traditional and modern styles. A prime example is eco-friendly solid oak Christmas trees. They are being presented for the first time.

The modular design allows the tree to “grow” by adding components. At the same time, the classic spruce shape is preserved.

Mike Marchant, fair exhibitor:

“This Christmas tree will last for decades. And, when it goes back into the environment, it won’t harm nature. We’ve already noticed that the sales situation has improved this year. In early November, we sold three times as much as we ordered last year.”

The Spirit of Christmas Fair takes place at the Olympia Exhibition Center in London November 4-10.
