Christian Dior’s chief designer, Maria Grazia Chiuri, paid tribute to sports at the haute couture show in Paris. She presented her collection on the eve of the Summer Olympics, which starts in the capital in a month.
Models strutted down the runway in draped, asymmetrical knitted dresses and flat gladiator sandals. The podium itself is decorated with images of athletes, which were created based on the works of American artist Faith Ringgold.
The fall/winter 2024-25 haute couture shows take place as France prepares to host the Summer Olympics. Earlier, the city also hosted a week of men’s fashion shows.
So, Vogue took over the epicenter of French luxury – Place Vendôme – for the Vogue World fashion event. This show was a mix of fashion, sports and celebrities. In particular, hundreds of athletes performed there.
Due to construction of the Olympic Games venues, some fashion shows have been moved to the outskirts of the center of the French capital. But the Dior show took place in a traditional place – in the garden of the Rodin Museum.
The Paris haute couture shows run until June 27. Brands such as Chanel, Thom Browne, Balenciaga and Jean Paul Gaultier will present their collections.
