Bulgarian farmers started collecting rose petals a month earlier. This is the village of Cherganovo. Here workers work from early morning, since at this time the content of essential oil reaches its maximum.
According to experts, the right combination of heat and humidity play a decisive role in the quality of the product. This year in Bulgaria there was a fairly warm winter and a very warm spring, so the roses bloomed earlier than usual.
To obtain one gram of oil, you need to collect more than 1000 petals.
After collection, the petals are immediately sent for processing. If they sit for a long time, they will lose their aroma.
According to historians, roses became an agricultural crop almost 2,500 years ago. Rose oil was originally made in Persia. Then production spread to India and Egypt, and then to Europe. At the end of the 19th century, Bulgaria became one of the most important centers for the production of rose oil in the world.
