AUTUMN-WINTER COLLECTION FROM DIOR

AUTUMN-WINTER COLLECTION FROM DIOR

The fashion house Dior presented its new autumn-winter collection at Paris Fashion Week. Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri turned to the origins of the fashion brand. She took inspiration from the late ’60s vibe and the feminine, tailored looks of that period.

Models walk through a hall decorated with bamboo trunks and intricate figures in the center. They wear neat trench coats, flared miniskirts, long mesh dresses sparkling with beaded embroidery, and trimmed jackets. Bags come in all shapes and sizes, as do shoes, including high jockey boots.

Chiuri says that when the late designer Marc Bohan transitioned from elaborate, tailored haute couture styles to ready-to-wear designs, his goal was to create new silhouettes that would be easier for women to wear when they went out.

The collection was called “Miss Dior”. The same name could be seen on some models in the form of graphics with thick strokes in the style of the 60s.

The intricate, armor-like cane sculptures are the work of Indian artist Shakuntala Kulkarni. In her work, she explores the theme of women’s urban life, as well as the spaces where it takes place.

Paris Fashion Week will last until March 5 and will bring together the most prestigious brands on the catwalks, including Chanel, Hermes and Louis Vuitton.
