A NEW SPECIES OF ANCIENT ICHTHYOSAURS DISCOVERED

The jawbone found by a British girl and her father on a beach in Somerset, England, belongs to a giant sea whale. It lived 202 million years ago and appears to have been one of the largest animals to ever exist on Earth.

Researchers say that this creature belongs to the order of ichthyosaurs. And this is not the first bone of this species found.

Marine reptiles ruled the world’s oceans, while dinosaurs ruled the land.

Judging by the finds, these ichthyosaurs lived 13 million years later than their giant counterparts, which are already known to science.

Scientists also note that no other marine reptile, including turtles and crocodiles, has reached the size of these animals.

They hope that one day they will be able to find the complete skull of these giants.
