The municipalities of Yenibogazici, Lefke, Mehmetcik-Büyükkonuk, Geçitkale-Serdarli and Tatlisu, members of the TRNC’s Cittaslow network, started the new year with excursion activities to promote their cities, starting with Lefke.
According to Cittaslow, these activities help primary school students learn about the history and nature of the country and strengthen ties between the cities. About 130 elementary school students from different cities visited the ancient city of Soli, the Venetian Aqueduct, the Valley of Date Palms and other attractions in Lefke.
The students learned about the urban life and history of Lefke, the role of mining and the process of processing dates, a key agricultural product, thanks to a local guide and producer.
