Giant Tetris in the center of London

You can play a giant tetris these days in one of the entertainment centers in London. Such an interactive display appeared in honor of the 40th anniversary of the famous computer game.

Alexandra Payne, an employee of the Outernet center:

“We use an application, which can be downloaded by scanning a QR code. The game will launch on your phone and you can move the pieces in real time right on the screen. You can play alone, with friends and family, and even with strangers.”

Dozens of adults and children came to play Tetris. Up to seven people can participate in one session.

The author of the game is Russian programmer Alexei Pazhitnov. He began to develop it in 1984. And a year later Tetris was released for computers “Electronica-60”. Then it began to be played all over the world. Now every year they regularly hold international competitions on “Tetris”.

In 2007, Tetris was included in the list of the ten most important computer games accepted for preservation by the Library of Congress.

The game will be 40 years old in 2025.
