The Speed Puzzle World Championship was held in Spain

There’s not a minute to lose. Every second counts at the World Puzzle Championships.

Puzzle lovers compete against each other for time in Valladolid, Spain.

World puzzle championships have been held since 2019. But since the coronavirus pandemic, interest in the tournaments has grown significantly.

Over four days, 3,500 puzzle enthusiasts compete in individual, doubles and team events.

The individual winner was 30-year-old Kristin Tove from Norway. It took her just over 37 minutes to complete the challenging puzzle.

Kristin Tove, individual winner:

“I’ve been putting puzzles together all my life, but during the pandemic I heard about speed puzzles and thought, ‘I’m going to go to the world championships’. After that, I started practicing.”

And while it may not be an extreme sport, Christine says she gets an “adrenaline kick” from it.
