Disfrutar means “to enjoy” in Spanish. A restaurant with this name in Barcelona is an example of stunning success.
It has received top ratings from various prestigious guides, including Michelin. And now it has taken first place in the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world.
The three chefs, who own three restaurants in Girona and Barcelona, say it is the result of years of hard work.
In 2015, the co-owners received the first Michelin star, in 2017 – the second, and in 2023 – the third. They were also ranked third on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2022, and second the following year.
Even with such clear progress year after year, this award came as a shock to them.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants website describes Disfrutar as “an experience of a lifetime.” It celebrates original dishes, unsurpassed technical skill and unique presentation.
Visitors can try the multi-sphere pesto with delicate pistachios and eel or the typical Spanish tapas dish called Gilda.
It’s no surprise that reservations are in record demand here.
The restaurant team today numbers 75 people. They say the pressure on them has increased since winning the award.
The ranking of the 50 best restaurants has been published for 22 years. At the same time, Catalan restaurants took first place in it eight times.
