300 grams of fruits and vegetables a day prolongs life

Recently, nutritionists and experts have insisted that everyone should eat four to five servings of vegetables, fruits and beans every day. New research has adjusted this data a bit.

In a large international study conducted by the PURE organization (concluded that even three or four servings of fresh fruits and vegetables are enough to significantly reduce the risk of premature death and the development of dangerous diseases. In the aggregate, this is no longer 400 grams, but a little over 300 grams.

People who consumed three or four servings of fruits, vegetables and legumes daily were 22% more likely to have a higher life expectancy than those who had a lower intake of these healthy foods.

The study found that increasing daily servings of fruits and vegetables beyond the recommended 300-400 grams had no effect on reducing mortality. That is, this amount is more than enough to prolong life. Scientists also found that the use of fresh fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and premature death more than cooked.

Thus, a simple recommendation follows from the researchers’ conclusions: to prolong life and maximize protection against the most dangerous diseases, you should eat at least 300 grams of fresh fruits every day.
