Gold coins 2,000 years old were found in the Tell Abrak archaeological complex, 50 kilometers from Dubai. Italian archaeologists are participating in the excavations. They say that gold coins have been discovered here for the first time.
In addition to gold coins, archaeologists found the remains of houses built in the 1st century BC, temple ruins, two statues and an inscription in Aramaic.
The Tell Abraq complex is located between the cities of Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain. It is one of the most important archaeological sites in the UAE. It is believed that people settled here 4,500 years ago.
A new exhibition is currently being prepared in Umm al-Quwain. It will present artifacts created in different historical eras.
